Is FBI Agent in Mexican Gun Case Being Persecuted?

About an hour ago I received a phone call from a friend and trusted source advising me there is much more to this story than has been reported. [More]
Today's second Gun Rights Examiner column...

Not sure what to make of this yet, but in all fairness it had to be posted.

Update to Today's GRE

A trusted source says all may not be as it seems. [More]

A Backhanded Gift

“Blaming the ‘gun culture’ for a criminal act is a calculated insult to the tens of millions of peaceable American gun owners who own firearms and do not engage in violence,” responded David Codrea, whose blog is called “The War on Guns.” [More]
And why would I say that?
[F]undraising. The bigger the controversy, the more specific the appeals for cash.
Really? Can anyone link us to even one fundraising appeal from anyone in "the gun lobby" that mentions the story this guy is talking about?

Certainly not from me. See that "In Lieu of a Tip Jar" click-through in the left sidebar?

Hell, I'm lucky to get readers here to even click on an Examiner link, let alone pass it on. I can't imagine how dismal a prospect it would be if I solicited for funds.

Oh, sure, once in a while I'll tell you about a book I think you might enjoy, or ask to help out with a specific case like Wayne Fincher (who, incidentally, I sent a check to before asking anyone else)...but if that was my strategy for the Mike Lupica story, wow, did I fail.

Sorry, Ken Newton. There were no "high fives" coming from me.

I guess a salaried "Authorized Journalist" might not understand that some people actually believe in what they profess?

Still, thanks for the mention. You spelled the name right.

Next time, though, could you include a link to my GRE page? I could sure use a few more pennies rolling in!

Money money money....

We're the Only Ones Haphazard Enough

New Orleans Police Department officials ran a haphazard property and evidence room from which more than $200,000 went missing, and later failed to notify the proper authorities in writing of the missing money, according to a newly released state audit report. [More]
So this is what happens when you give NOLA "Only Ones" complete control over something?

Sonia Sotomayor, the Gun Owner's Friend

On gun rights, Sotomayor says “one of my godchildren is a member of the NRA and I have friends who hunt.” [More]
Oh, good. She had me worried there.

Is FBI Agent Mexican 'Crime Gun' Source?

We've seen this corruption saturate Mexican policing efforts. And we've seen how the corruption extends to "law enforcement" on this side of the border.

So why does this come as no surprise?
An F.B.I. agent in El Paso has been arrested and charged with dealing guns, some of which ended up being used in gunfights between the authorities and drug dealers in Mexico, law enforcement officials said.
A federal "Only One"? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner looks at another potential source for Mexican "crime guns." it shouldn't surprise you, either.

Here's one thing that may: Their government's surprising solution for cartels attacking Mormons.

This Day in History: July 14

The Commander in Chief was surprised to day to see the bad condition of many arms they being not only unfit for fire, but very rusty, which latter defect it is certainly in the power of every man to prevent, and the neglect of it must arise from an inexcusable inattention of the officers. [More]
