And Remember...

...they hate us because we're free... [Watch]

Here's more.

Fortunately, most of us would rather watch a basketball game or a Lady Gaga concert than guard with jealous attention the public liberty...

Still, the thought strikes that a rag, a Coke bottle and a dollar's worth of gas could pretty much render useless one of these multi-million dollar investments. So maybe before we let people near them, we ought to make them go through another line first, where we can give them the rape scan/junk grope...oh, I'm sorry, I mean the "Freedom Fondle" option...

A Lost Cause?

No, I'm not talking about GRendell's rantings. [Read]

I'm talking about allowing RINO political whores like Kate Harper to remain in power.

Better to let an anti-gun democrat have the seat as an object lesson that the GOP had better get someone acceptable to run if they want back in.

But that's stupid politics! If we do that we could lose all our gun rights!

Only if you believe the ultimate test will be political. Only if you surrender them.  Only if you think it's a lost cause.

If you allow betrayals without non-negotiable consequences, what incentive is there to stay faithful?

And what's the deal with Dominc Pileggi?  He comes out speaking for NRA, which has given him an "A" rating, but this says he "broke with Republicans - and some Democrats - to support closing the so-called Florida loophole..."

No Surprise

Proponents hailed Heller and McDonald as setbacks for gun control advocates. They predicted a shift in gun policy throughout the country.

But so far it hasn’t happened that way. While there have been challenges throughout the country to local, state and federal gun laws, few have been successful. [More]
Ayup:
However, if they accept either Seegars or Parker, I believe the court will not dare say there is no individual rkba. But if they find there is one, it will be so heavily burdened with "reasonable restrictions" as to ensure the status quo. They'll never admit the truth unless someone, that would be us, has enough power to compel them.
Men don't voluntarily give up power over others. There has to be an "or else" attached to if they don't, followed by a cost/benefit tradeoff analysis.

That's the way it's always been.

Hopefully, the senators will have a say in the matter.

As I noted in that column, it’s good to see the National Rifle Association “urge” Obama to withdraw the nomination. Still unknown: Will we also see a pledge to score a confirmation vote against any senator who approves it?

Come on, guys, act like you mean it.

Wrapped Around the Axle

Just busier than anything today with several unexpected tasks and no time to do all that must be done...

Bunches of you sent me tons of links over the weekend--afraid I won't be getting to them--good rule of thumb for those who haven't noticed--I pretty much slow down to Examiner columns on Sat. and Sun. and if a bunch of stuff builds up, chances are there just isn't enough of me to do much about it.

Tomorrow looks to be much of the same.  Sorry, like the robot V.I.N.CENT said in "The Black Hole":

The apologists are out in force in comments here.  Seems the idea of doing things openly doesn't set well with those who have appointed themselves our representatives--and their lackeys.  Funny how they have more of a problem with people who want to know the details than they do with BATFU.

Stewart Rhodes Interview

The Rise of Authoritarianism and How US Law Enforcement Can Take a Stand for Freedom [More]
I know there have been hard feelings vented at Oath Keepers because they don't do what some of their critics expect of them.

I would simply point out that this group has a very specific and limited mission. Getting cops and military to think about their oath and what it means is a tremendously important first step. Get their toes in the pool first...

I know that seems elemental, but it is what it is, and we work with what we've got.

It's up to us to then encourage them--as individuals--into more turbulent waters.  If Oath Keepers tries to do that, it will discourage their recruitment targets from taking a closer look. That makes no sense.

Nor does chasing away people who are coming toward the light but may not have brought it into focus yet.

We can't be everything to everybody. Niches and specific objectives are also important.

I continue to support my friend Stewart and his mission. If that means people will then dismiss me, so be it. If I were  doing this for mass approval, I'd have picked a different topic.

How Long?

How Long Before TSHTF? [More]

Got this one late Friday--since I don't post much except for GRE columns on weekends, I almost lost track of it.

It's a question worth discussing: How much time do you think we have?

My own answer would have to be you can never tell because we have no idea what the catalyst event will be.

Maybe that's another discussion to have--what do you think will be the likely irrevocable event to set things off?

My guess would be something we don't come up with, but as my kids will attest, I've been wrong before. And how.

I'm Glovin' It!

From Michael G:
WND has an article claiming that TSA personnel performing "Enhanced Pat Downs" do not regularly change their latex gloves between passengers.

This got me speculating, the hard part of bio warfare is not the disease, but spreading it. Aerosol delivery is really pretty inefficient. But imagine a suicide bio bomber infected by a lethal disease spread by skin to skin contact booking an airline flight and refusing to go through the scanners? Then if the TSA personnel that performed the pat down failed to follow proper glove discipline he would spread it to every other passenger he searched until he finally changed his gloves. Possibly himself if he didn't know the proper way to remove gloves.
That and I'd be interested to know who their glove supplier is, whether controls are in place to prevent bio agents being placed in/on them during manufacturing/packaging, and whether distribution chain of custody controls are in place up to the time they are issued to the gropers...

We're the Only Ones "Queen to King's Level One"* Enough

A squad of cops in bulletproof vests swooped into an upper Manhattan park and charged seven men with the "crime" of playing chess in an area off-limits to adults unaccompanied by kids -- even though no youngsters were there. [More]
I guess age discrimination is OK if the government does it?

I'm wondering when this heavy-handed stormtrooping actually will turn into "a broken windows thing." And a lot more.

We're the Only Ones "B-Team" Enough

Kind of like a straight-to-DVD version of "The Expendables"...? [Read]

Ferrigno--Look out behind you!

FERRIGNO!

I'll tell you how old I am--I remember Peter Lupus when he billed himself as Rock Stevens in sword and sandal flicks. I thought his having a vaccination scar was the funniest damn thing...

I don't mean to be so contrary, especially as a citizen militia advocate, but I've just never been enamored of "star cops."

And I still think Sheriff Joe's got some 'splainin' to do.

The Experts Agree

Security forces also have seized tens of thousands of venerable assault rifles such as the AK-47 and its American cousin, the AR-15. U.S. and Mexican experts say 90 percent of such semi-automatic rifles are smuggled from the United States. [More]
No, not under oath they don't say that. "Authorized Journalist" Tim Johnson.

But I know we can't expect to bother you with independent fact-checking or government watchdogging when there's so much talking points parroting to be done.

Historically Huge

"This whole (Pistol Grip Shotgun) Destructive Device issue is easily the hugest single regulatory f-ckup in the history of ATF." [Read]
Vanderboegh gives us yet more on this.

We're the Only Ones Priceless Enough

Speeding and hitting a boy: $185.

Leaving him permanently brain-damaged and quadriplegic, and then getting off with a ticket: Priceless.

And no, you don't have a need to know if further discipline was applied. And "Authorized Journalist" Hayley Peterson apparently doesn't think the name of the Montgomery County District Court judge who rendered the wrist slap needs to be public information, either.

Amazing, who the law is really designed to protect and serve.

There are some things money can't buy.  If you're an "Only One," this child is apparently not one of them.

Nice to know that, per pound, your kid is probably priced cheaper than chicken.

[Via lots of you]

Once Upon a Time...

There was a time when the major media used to do the reporting citizen journalists now do. Today, the media content themselves with recycling White House press releases and dismissing real reporters as "conspiracy theorists." [More]

Do mental health study findings demand disarming one in five Americans?

But if this survey is true, can we as a society afford allowing twenty percent of the population to roam free among us potentially armed? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column wonders how much worse things could be if the inmates really did run the asylum.  Nutty idea, freedom...

This Day in History: November 19

As the British strategy formed, British Gen. Augustin Prevost sent his younger brother, LtCol. Mark Prevost on a forging expedition against the Liberty County settlements of Newport and Midway. He also directed Col. Lewis Valentine Fuser through the inland waterways to capture Sunbury, the second largest town in Georgia. On November 19, 1778, Prevost crossed the Altamaha River with 750 men and ravaged the plantations, killing or capturing the male citizens. [More]

GRE Round Up for November 18

Here's the latest from my fellow GREs:

Dire Need

Not bad, starting at $65K. Plus they start you right out with fantasies about that "Only Ones" attitude that separates "Us" from "Them."

Check out the "r" in "Dire." Is that a pistol motif à la "The Sopranos" logo?

What I'm not seeing is if this is actually an ad placed by the Bureau or if this is some matchbook training school--Regardless, somebody figured out they could make money appealing to a certain type of mentality.

UPDATE: Matchbook U. Not an offer of employment!  Financial assistance available if qualified!

Let's just think about that for a moment.

An Unappealing Development

But don't worry--John Richardson tells us that's good news. [Read]

And I Used to Be an American

(Chorus)
And I used to be an American,
where I think I once was free.
and I won’t forget the men who groped,
and grabbed and pawed at me.
Alvie rewrites some lyrics.

My Man Mitthead Redux

This anti-gun slug wants the top spot.

This one never stopped wanting it, and he's apparently considered a "frontrunner" of sorts.

Fortunately for him, the signals have been sent on multiple occasions.

See, the whole purpose of the Tea Party movement and the groundswell of citizen dissatisfaction with oppressive government has been to make sure Establishment RINOS get more power over our lives.

Note to Stupid Party: You will blow it all.

Note to Fairfax: This ain't a chess game.

"The Agility to Pivot"

We just saw one take on this.

Figures this Republican idiot would endorse the polar opposite:
I'm one of those who happens to support the full body scanner.
And, oh, look: same signal-senders!

Anybody still have any questions about "Vote Freedom First"?

Someone to Watch Over Me

Kottkamp wanted the state to pay for 24-hour security from his full-time escort and driver, a captain in the Florida Highway Patrol, which would have cost thousands of dollars. [More]
Let me guess--the gallant captain would have been able to protect his charge from al-Qaida...how?

Any "Only One" action going on here? You talk a great game, Jeff.

If you did a statistical analysis of Religion of Peace victims, how many Florida political elites have they racked up, as opposed to, say, "ordinary citizens" who travel overseas at their own risk, and who are banned from defensive options by law?

We're the Only Ones Pawn Stars Enough

A south Georgia police officer has been suspended without pay after his indictment on federal firearm charges along with two pawn shop owners and two store employees following an undercover investigation. [More]
I sometimes get the feeling this whole unreal "Only Ones" phenomenon is a bad reality show.

The "No Only Ones" Bill of 2010

If we can't grope, they can't. [More]

This guy gets it.

Amazing how many from "our side" have tried to torpedo him. The rhetoric when he was running for president is telling.

Of course, look where they were getting their signals from.

Brady Campaign endorsed ‘gun criminal’ legislator

Do you get the feeling that perhaps there’s a bit of projection going on? I mean, how could you trust others to behave responsibly when that ability is apparently so personally elusive?

And it gets better. Guess who endorsed Myers in 2008? And guess whose proposed laws get cited in a propaganda report demanding to shut down “rogue gun dealers” in PA? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column introduces you to a convicted "gun criminal" and Brady Campaign pick who doesn't trust YOU with guns.

We're the Only Ones Paying Tribute to Our Own Enough

Portland police Chief Mike Reese announced today that he's suspending Capt. Mark Kruger for 80 hours without pay and sending him to "Tools for Tolerance" training for erecting a public tribute to five Nazi-era German soldiers at a city park while employed by the police bureau.[More]
I love it: As punishment, the wacky Portland national socialists are sending him to a Tolerance Lager.

He fired inside the car. During a fight with Sweetie. Where do they find these violent morons they unleash on the rest of us?

And I guess the fact he only faces "possible disciplinary action from the police merit board" means what? He gets to keep his gun?  Those Lautenberg misdemeanor domestic violence prohibitions for life don't apply to "Only Ones"?
