ATF source confirms ‘walking’ guns to Mexico to ‘pad’ statistics

"It's true. Pure fact verified. Ongoing inv(estigation..." [More]
I have done everything I can to responsibly investigate and verify this--otherwise, I would not have run it. It would be foolish to assume that certain people do not want this looked into. It just seems turning on the lights is the most prudent course.

Help me do that by sharing the link?

GRE Round Up for January 5

Here are the latest offerings from my fellow GREs:

Dave Workman/Seattle:
Kurt Hofmann/St. Louis:
Also check out these other Liberty-oriented Examiners:

It's a Bird! It's a Plane!

It's gonna be Deadman if this comical fool ever runs up against the wrong arch-villain. [Read]

Somehow, he doesn't impress me as being faster than a speeding bullet.

Protecting the Environment

University president Michael Young wrote in a memo that “having weapons in plain sight on this campus creates a fearful and intimidating campus environment.” [More]
I dunno, Mike, if we're talking environmental issues here, have you seen how long it takes these things to degrade in a landfill?

Assuming you ever change yours...?

We're the Only Ones Tossed Enough

Lee Paige, the founding father/patron saint of the "Only Ones" continues to bring us comedy gold. [Read]

[Via lots of you]

We're the Only Ones Nutty Enough

A State Highway Patrol officer who was named his post's Trooper of the Year in 2008 was arrested Sunday during the game at Browns Stadium after he was accused of throwing peanuts at two deputies and vandalizing a jail cell. [More]
"Trooper of the Year"?

So he's not a "bad apple"?

Just a violent nut case?  One who keeps us safe from other drunken cops?

Communist Dreams

More interesting to me than the main rant, which truly didn't interest me at all, are the comments. [Read]

Does anyone seriously think there can be peace with these nasty hive insects? Has their evil doctrine ever produced anything but genocide, killing fields, poverty and starvation?

Is it any wonder they host these subversives?

Maybe it's time to ask "Republicans" Paul Helmke and Sarah and Jim Brady why they happily partner with a site that openly promotes the destruction of capitalism...

I'm wondering if this entire disgusting lot doesn't qualify for the term "domestic enemies," who does?

We're the Only Ones Biting Enough

San Leandro police Monday were investigating an incident with a K-9 unit dog that was involved in a deadly attack on another dog over the holidays. [More]
Good thing this happened in Brentwood.

Otherwise, the other dog's owner may have been armed.  And you can get in serious trouble for injuring a  police dog.

The Intent of the Founders

How often have we heard some anti claim the Founders never meant for people to have modern weapons because all they had were muskets, or some such lie built along those lines?

I guess they never meant for us to be secure in our electronic effects, either...

Either that or the California Supreme Court is dominated by domestic enemies.

Ordnance crossing into Mexico over border—its southern one

Regular readers will recall how the criminal enterprise started by rogue Mexican special forces operatives has expanded its influence—first as enforcers for the Gulf Cartel and now as a rival power. That they’ve established themselves in neighboring Guatemala is hardly surprising, and would appear to circumstantially dovetail with another development being reported by Tim Johnson, Mexico Bureau Chief for McClatchy Newspapers...[More]
This Gun Rights Examiner column notes that ours isn't the only border with Mexico.

Also tune in to the first...uh...live Trigger Sports LIVE! of the new year.

This Day in History: January 5

The American prisoners, finding themselves confined, employed considerable Yankee ingenuity attempting to escape. On January 5, 1779 alone, 100 escaped from Old Mill Prison. "Some went over the wall, some tunneled under the wall, others bribed guards, some walked out dressed as officials, another tried to get into a coffin as a replacement for one of their number who had died, while several less scrupulous connived with members of the local populace who helped them escape and then brought them back to collect the five pounds reward, which they afterwards shared." Splitting the reward was a good way for the prisoners to raise money. Once they escaped they needed money to purchase their passage to France. [More]
