Not sure that anything short of searching the students back packs and metal detectors would have made a difference here. Both of my kids attended this school and it's locked down. Strangers have to be buzzed in, all doors are locked and there's a cop on the premises with his own office. This was done by a student, probably with a handgun, since you couldn't get a rifle in there unnoticed. I expect there to be plenty of calls for someone to do something, but there is little anyone could have done in this situation. Obviously, the parents are at fault for not having their firearms secured and raising a kid to not be a would be killer. If I had to guess at the kids reasons, he just wanted to be famous. Lousy way to go about it.
